A stone’s throw from Waterloo Main Line Station, 137 Stamford Street is an imposing former office for London Electricity which was extended and refurbished to provide a higher education facility for BPP plc. Hother Associates were Cost Consultants and CDM Consultant.
The overall development included the refurbishment and extension of the existing main building fronting Stamford Street and the refurbishment of the existing annex building to the rear of the site. Both of these buildings were linked by the construction of a new semi-basement lecture theatre within the existing area of car park in the middle of the site.
The building was fitted out with new training rooms, offices, lecture theatre, library, canteen and common rooms and constructed to a high specification with particular attention being paid to the acoustic treatment of the training rooms and lecture theatre.
New air conditioning was provided from rooftop and courtyard plant.
The new courtyard above the semi-basement lecture theatre was extensively landscaped to provide a break out area for the students and staff.
